Factors Influencing E-Government Adoption by Female Students

First Subtopic: Background

The primary goal of electronic government (e-government) is to foster transparency and enhance the accountability of public institutions in a digitalized era. Despite its advantages, relatively few studies have examined factors that influence women's adoption of e-government, especially in emerging economies. Therefore, this study sought to identify drivers of e-government service adoption among young women in Medellín, Colombia.

Second Subtopic: Methodology

A survey administered to 223 female university students examined factors based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Structural and measurement models were assessed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Validity and reliability were confirmed.

Third Subtopic: Results

The findings confirmed the validity of both measurement and structural models, demonstrating strong predictive power. Seven out of eight hypotheses were supported, particularly the positive influence of ease of use on perceived usefulness and the positive relationship between intention to use and actual system usage.

Fourth Subtopic: Discussion

The results underscore the importance of engaging women in digital government spaces, addressing perception barriers, and considering the relationship between intention and usage to create more inclusive policies. These findings provide valuable insights for promoting e-government services in emerging economy contexts.

Fifth Subtopic: Conclusion

The study emphasizes the need to bridge gender gaps by understanding specific factors that impact e-government adoption among young women. The findings contribute to the development of equitable and empowering policies that promote female participation in digital governance.
